Hi, I’m Hamsatu

I’m an architect, entrepreneur, and social-impact leader with over a decade of experience designing spaces, products, and opportunities that empower people and communities. As the founder and creative director of Yasmin Crafts, I combine traditional craftsmanship with modern design to create beautiful, functional products—while also providing rural women artisans a platform to grow their businesses and reach global markets.

For me, architecture and design aren’t just about buildings or décor; they’re about solving problems, improving lives, and creating opportunities. Every project I take on and every product I develop is guided by this principle.

What I Do

At Yasmin Crafts, I lead the creative vision and strategy, ensuring that every piece reflects quality, sustainability, and social impact. We work closely with women artisans, teaching skills, sharing market insights, and connecting them to buyers both locally and internationally.

Beyond product design, I manage interior and construction projects, overseeing everything from planning and budgeting to execution. My goal is always to deliver results that are cost-efficient, sustainable, and exceed client expectations. In 2023, we generated over $120,000 in revenue while optimizing project costs by 15%, a true testament to combining creativity with strategic thinking.

My Journey

I began my career in architecture, obtaining both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Ahmadu Bello University with a focus on ecological architecture, blending innovative design with sustainable building practices. Over time, I expanded my skills to entrepreneurship, project management, and social innovation.

• Founder & Creative Director, Yasmin Crafts: Led a team creating handcrafted décor products and custom furniture, empowering rural artisans to access digital and international markets.
• Interior Project Architect, A & F Managers Ltd.: Designed and managed interiors for premium residential estates with a keen focus on quality and contractor coordination.
• Community Leader & Mentor: Radio show co-host “Girl Talk” on We FM 106.3 Abuja. Addressed gender equality and also Led the Flourish Africa Alumnae Association, mentoring 500+ women in leadership and business.
